Women hold up half the sky
I love this post by 84-year old Bill Gates Sr. in his book review of Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity Worldwide. Bill says, "To everyone around the world who has asked me what it takes to raise a successful son like Bill Gates, my first response is: Make sure he can learn from a strong woman." His comments are such a wonderful perspective on how men can benefit from strong women - I encourage you to read his entire post.
Flushing virgin forests down the toilet
I had no idea that our choice of toilet paper could mean so much - But the reality is that the soft, triple-ply premium wipe is actually wiping out virgin forests too. "...the NRDC estimates that if every household in the U.S. replaced just one 500-sheet roll of virgin-fiber TP a year with a roll made from 100% recycled paper, nearly 425,000 trees would be saved annually." What lies beneath
Let's admit it - Most of us fall for the hype surrounding the latest, greatest wrinkle cream promises only to encounter disappointment after handing over our hard-earned money. I have found a great website which provides unbiased information on which treatments have been found to work versus which are pure hype.

A new study shows that men who keep their cell-phones in their pocket while talking when using a hands-free headset are at higher risk for male infertility, and possibly testicular cancer. Further, a scientist at a well-known cancer institute sounds the alarm on cell-phone use among children. Remember when smoking was considered just fine for your health too? If you’d prefer not to be one of millions of guinea pigs, read this article.
Vinyl shower curtains unsafe (?)
That “new shower curtain smell” comes from over 100 chemicals being emitted into the air, a new study by the Center for Health, Environment and Justice (CHEJ) finds. In their press release, CHEJ states that "results from a two-phase study...show that shower curtains made with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic contain many harmful chemicals including volatile organic
